Ella Mae Paden, longtime resident of Beggs, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Glenwood Healthcare in Glenpool. She was 97 years of age. Ella Mae was born April 10, 1920 in Marble City, Oklahoma to the late John and Lou Alice (Perciful) Cockrum. She moved to Beggs and married Kiowa D. Paden. Ella Mae loved to cook and was best known for her fried chicken and chicken and noodles, but was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed flowers, quilting and crocketing, but most of all, she loved being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, parents, two brothers, Houston and Fred Cockrum and two sisters, Bessie Points and Irene Tackett. Survivors include a son, Sam Paden and wife Sharon of Beggs, two daughters, Tommie Kula and husband Rick of Broken Arrow and Jerrie Griffin and husband Roy of Beggs, seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and longtime friends. A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Beggs Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Boyce officiating. Casketbearers will be Samuel Paden, Mark Griffin, Mike Kula, Brian Johnson, Garrett Kula and Parker Johnson. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
