Okmulgee Police Dept. ask for help in solving recent murder case

Okmulgee Police Department (OPD) released an update to quell rumors circulating on social media regarding the Kimberly Lyons-Anderson murder.

Investigators have conducted in excess of 25 interviews to date. The commonality of those interviews is that no-one who witnessed the shooting has been identified. Although we have identified numerous persons who were present at the time of the shooting, we have not identified a single person who admits to actually witnessing the shooting. We were provided multiple descriptions of possible vehicles spotted in the area but none that were identified as being involved in the shooting.

In addition, OPD was contacted by a news agency and informed that rumors were circulating that a weapon had been recovered. We have not recovered a weapon related to this homicide. A witness told officers today that although they were present at the location when the shooting took place their back was to the shooter and they did not see them. That witness also told investigators that there was approximately 50 people in the parking lot immediately prior to the shooting. Someone among that group saw the shooter and can identify them.

Investigators from five different agencies continue to run down leads but OPD needs witnesses to come forward that actually saw the shooting.

OPD continues to ask for the public’s help in solving this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact Okmulgee Police Department at 918-756-3511.
