The Okmulgee County Democrats group held their July meeting Thursday night at the Okmulgee Public Library, holding it upstairs because a Harry Potter celebration was going on in the basement.
The main speaker of the evening, Joshua Harris-Till, leader of the Oklahoma Young Democrats, was unable to attend due to a family medical emergency.
Chair Tom Taton praised the group’s efforts in getting Karen Gaddis elected to the state House of Representatives. “It’s proof positive that community engagement works,” stated Taton. “It really works!”
Activation of the Finance Action fundraising committee, the Publicity Action committee, the Outreach Action committee and the Issues Action committee took place.
In other news, the June minutes and treasurer’s report were approved, there was a report on the June state convention of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, a website will be created for the group, and ODP shirts are available to order, T-shirts for $13 and polos for $20.
